Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and 5 months old!

It has been a busy month for us at the Sambu house. Mesh got packed and ready to head off to Kenya for a month, so I am getting a taste of what it is like to be a single mom. What a difference it is around here!! Isiah is really missing his dad and I am too. He will be back soon though. We had a great Christmas. Isiah and I headed to Alta for Christmas. We spent a lot of time with family. Isiah got a lot of nice things for Christmas. Isiah is now sleeping in his crib in his room, which was a change for me not having him in his bassinet in our room. I seemed to be more troubled with it than him, but we both seem to be sleeping better which is a plus. Isiah is growing and learning new things every day it seems like. I think he is also working on a bottom tooth!

3 and 4 months

Well, as you can tell I have been a little busy and haven't gotten to this blog to update it. So I apologize to all of you who have been checking and not seeing any updates. It has been a busy few months. Isiah started going to daycare, and is doing GREAT there!! She is such a great lady. She is always telling me how Isiah is such a laid back baby, which he is. Isiah helped us Halloween night hand out candy to all of our neighbors that stopped by. He rolled over for the first time before Thanksgiving at daycare. We didn't see it until about a week ago at home. Isiah's first Thanksgiving was great. We were at his great-grandparents house in Alta and had a great day!! We also went and visited Santa. He didn't seem too interested, but at least we got a picture :) The first weekend in December, we said our good byes to Mesh's mom. It was great having her here. She arrived safely in Kenya. Mesh is also in Kenya for 4 weeks. We really miss him and can't wait for him to come home! Well, I hope to update this blog a little more often. We wish you all a Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas!!

2 Months!!

Well, I am a few weeks late on the 2 month update, but it has been a crazy month around our house. I headed back to work on the 22nd of Sept. so needless to say there were lots of tears on my part. Mesh's mom is still here watching Isiah during the day. Isiah welcomed his cousin Ava to the world on October 4th. Since Ashley and Josh were living in our basement for a few weeks, we got to decorate our basement in pink to welcome Ava "home." It will be so much fun watching our children grow up. Well, Isiah did well at his 2 month check-up.....he now weighs 11lbs. 13oz. and is 22 3/4 " so he has really grown in two months!! He also did well with his shots, lots of crying from both of us, but he was a rock star!! Isiah is really starting to do a lot of talking and is staying awake most of the day. We are enjoying every minute with him and can't wait to see what the next month has to bring!

Isiah and Ava; Isiah 10 weeks Ava 1 week

1 month old!

Hard to believe that Isiah is already 1 month old!! This month has been an adjusting period for both Isiah and mom and dad :) I am learning that sleep is just overrated and a few hours at a time is a blessing! Isiah is doing much better at night time sleeping, thanks to a warm soft blanket from grandma Leigh! This has been a busy month with lots of visitors and family coming to meet Isiah. Isiah's grandma from Kenya arrived about a week ago to meet him. She is so happy to be here visiting, and we are happy she is here also! My maternity leave is quickly winding down, so I am enjoying every moment with the little peanut!!

Growing......

Well, Isiah is now 2 1/2 weeks old and is growing like a weed!! We just had his 2 week check-up yesterday and he now weighs 6lbs. 10oz. and is 19 1/4". So that was awesome news! This is my first week home alone with Isiah during the day. I was lucky enough to have Mesh home with me the first week and then last week my mom came and stayed with us. And even though I am 29 years old, there is nothing like having your mom around!! And especially her cooking, YUMMY!!! Isiah did have to spend a few nights at Blank Children's Hospital because he had a fever, but after lots of blood work they think it was just a virus and he is good to go. That was great news to hear. We are so thankful for all the gifts and prayers that have come our way since Isiah was born. We feel truly blessed, and it is just great to have such amazing friends and family. We love you all!!

1st week as parents......

Well, we have completed our first week as parents. Isiah has our heart and is a true blessing. We love him SO much!! We are adjusting to lack of sleep and getting up every few hours in the middle of the night. Mesh didn't work the first week, so that was GREAT to have him home. He is such an amazing daddy!! Mesh and Isiah have a little morning routine which includes Mesh in the recliner with Isiah taking his morning nap on daddy's chest. It is such a beautiful sight. Each day we are seeing changes in Isiah and he is growing quickly. He went to his first dr. apt. on Wed. and had already gained an ounce, so we were excited about that. He got a bouncer from his Aunt Jackie, and he loves it as you can see.

It's a BOY!!

Well, if you haven't heard yet we were blessed with a beautiful healthy boy on August 2nd. He decided he was going to join this world about 3 1/2 weeks early. We were more than surprised with his arrival, but are loving him more and more each day! I was shopping at Younkers with my mom and sister when my water started to break, so I knew it must be a boy because no girl would ruin a Mommy's shopping trip! After 15 hours of labor, Isiah Kipkoech Sambu joined the world at 7:23AM weighing in at 5lbs. 12 oz. and measuring 18 3/4". We will continue updating this blog as he grows and our lives change :)
